Grace Christian

Addison Leighe Cherry Addison Leighe Cherry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Cherry. She will be attending EMCC at Scooba for the Optometry course then continuing her education at The Memphis School for Optometry pursuing her doctorate degree in Optometry. Addison is the Valedictorian for the class of 2012. She has been in Beta Club for 6 years, Yearbook staff for 2 years and served as Student Council President her senior year. Addison has been involved in the Winston County Teenage Republicans, and has been recognized as a Distinguished Christian High School Student her Jr. Year for Academics and her Sr. year for Academics and Leadership. She has also received the English award her Jr. Year and the US Government and Bible Award her senior year. Her favorite memory of high school is the “mud fight” her sophomore year. Addison is an active member of First Apostolic Church. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine hear and Lean not unto thine all understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Mary Madeline Crawford Mary Madeline Crawford is the daughter of the late Dr. Ben Crawford and Mrs. Beth Crawford. She will be attending the University of Mississippi pursing a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders. Madeline has attended Grace for 13 years (K5-12th grade). Madeline has been very involved in all aspects of campus life including Beta Club serving as Vice President her Jr. year, Student Council for 5 years serving as Vice President her Jr. and Sr. years, and Yearbook staff. Madeline has also been active in the Winston County Teenage Republicans and Anchor Club. Her awards include the Caroline Fair Spirit Award for Distinguished Young Women, Algebra II award, Timothy Award, Volleyball Achievement, and the Eagle Award. She has been recognized by ACIS for Distinguished Christian High School Student for Academics and Athletics her Jr. year and for Leadership, Athletics and Christian Service her Sr. year. Madeline’s favorite memory of high school is having an undefeated season in volleyball her senior year. Madeline is an active member of First Presbyterian Church. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 31:30, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”

Harli Leah Eaves Harli Leah Eaves is the daughter of Ms. Amanda Eaves and Mr. Kevin Eaves. She will be attending the Mississippi University for Women to pursue a BSN in nursing, and then continue her education at University of Alabama Birmingham to get her Master’s Degree in nursing. Harli is the Salutatorian for the class of 2012. She has been in Beta Club for 4 years, serving as President her Senior Year. Harli has served on the yearbook staff for 4 years, Volleyball manager and played on the GCS softball team. She has been a member of the Anchor Club and was selected Anchor of the year 2010-2011. Her awards include the following; Anatomy and Physiology, U.S. History, Algebra II, English I, Bible, Timothy, Advanced Math I, Spanish I, World History, World Geography, English III, MS History, Spanish II, U.S. Government, and Economics. She has also been recognized as a Distinguished Christian High School Student her Jr. Year for Academics and Christian Service and her Senior Year for Academics, Leadership and Christian Service. She has received the National Beta Club Scholarship, The Hearin Leadership Scholarship, the “W” Award of Excellence Scholarship and MS. Scholars. Her favorite memories of high school are the “mud fight” her Jr. Year and the annual spirit week activities. Harli is an active member of Crystal Ridge Baptist Church. Harli’s favorite Bible verse is I Corinthians 13:4 – “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”

Chastidy Denise Haynes Chastidy Denise Haynes is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Haynes. She will be attending Mississippi State University to pursue a career in Elementary Education. Chastidy has attended Grace Christian School for 13 years (K5 – 12th grade). Chastidy has been involved in many aspects of campus life at GCS including student government and sports. She is a 5 year letterman in volleyball and softball, serving as captain her senior year in both sports. She has received the following awards in volleyball… Offensive and defensive player and all tournament awards at the FCA invitational and the East Hills Christian School invitational. In softball she has received several “homerun” balls over the past 5 years. She has also served on the student council, beta club and annual staff. She has been recognized as a Distinguished Christian High School Student her Jr. and Senior years in Fine Arts and Athletics. In 2011 Chastidy participated in the Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program placing 3rd overall and receiving a $1,250.00 scholarship. Chastidy is an accomplished pianist having taken lessons for 11 years and scoring a superior ranking in regional keyboard festivals. She is an active member at Pleasant Grove UMC serving as Assistant Sunday School Secretary, on the Usher Board and singing in the Youth Choir. Her favorite memory of high school is going undefeated in volleyball her senior year. Chastidy’s favorite Bible verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Jeffrey Landon McMinn Jeffrey Landon McMinn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff McMinn. Landon is an avid hunter and fisherman enjoying anything outdoors. He has received the History Award and several ACSI Creative Writing Awards for poetry. Landon also has achieved the rank of a black belt in karate. Some of Landon’s most memorable moments were going deep sea fishing, the prom, spirit week, the mud fight. He also had a great time going to see Bon Jovi and staying at Hotel Galvez. Landon is looking forward to continuing to work in the field of video media and business. Landon is an active member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church. Landon’s favorite Bible verse is “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11.

Future Plans: I plan on attending East Mississippi Community College to pursue my dream in Social Work.

Her most memorable moment was being in the marching band in the state with the presentation of Jersey Boys. Her future plans are to work and attend college at East Central Community College.

Shannon Palmer Shannon Palmer is the daughter of Tim and Tina Palmer. She is in the following club: Design Tech II. She has received the following award: 3rd place in sewing. Her most memorable moment was when she found out she passed to the 12th grade and would be graduating with the class of 2012. Her future plans are to go to East Central Community College and go into the field of Early Childhood Education.

Alonzo Pollard Alonzo Pollard is the son of Alvin and Elizabeth Pollard. He is in the following activity: Basketball. He has received the following awards and honors: division champions in basketball and 4A basketball. Her most memorable moment was actually getting to play and win a basketball game at the Humphrey Coliseum. His future plans are to attend a junior college to pursue his dream of becoming a professional athlete.

Alexis Hampton Alexis Hampton is the daughter of Marilyn and Stephen Hampton. She has received the following awards and honors: Most Outstanding Freshman, sophomore, and junior for band, and best supporting actress of 2011. Her most memorable moment was when Danny Glover came to give a motivational speech to the student and faculty members of LHS. Her future plans are to attend Mississippi State University and work on a degree in Psychology Education.

Justin Marshall Justin Marshall is the son of Lerner and Howard Marshall. He is in the following activity: Football. His most memorable moment was being part of the Louisville Wildcats football team. His future plans are to attend Itawamba Community College and later finish out his college career at Ole Miss.

Clarissa Ball Clarissa Ball is the daughter of Kimberly Ball. She is in the following activity: JROTC. Her most memorable moment was when she had her first child. Her future plan is to go to the army.

Brady Gookin Brady Gookin is the son of Cindy Jennings and David Gookin. He is in the following activity: Powerlifting. He has received the following awards: Star Student Award for Mrs. Massey, the Citizenship Award in the 10th grade, and Powerlifter of the year in the 11th grade. His most memorable moment was the snowball fight in the school parking lot after school. His future plans are to go to East Central Community College to get a business degree and then become a business owner.

Robin Simone Griffin Robin Simone Griffin is the daughter of Victoria Jones and Keith Ferrell. She is in the following clubs and activities: SADD, SADD mentors, step team, track, and drama club. Her most memorable moment was her ninth grade year. Her future plans are to attend East Central Community College for two years then head to a university. She plans on going to college to be either a RN or go to cosmetology.

Asia Santiaa Bennett Asia Santiaa Bennett is the daughter of Marcie Bennett (Holmes) and Anthony Davis. She is in the following clubs and activities: HOSA, band/color guard, dancer on the mime team at her church, and the G.I.R.L.S. ministry. She has received the following awards and honors: Honor graduate, honor roll, most improved musician in band, and most beautiful. She has enlisted in the U. S. Army Reserves. After she graduates, she plans on continuing this process by going to drill, basic training, and AIT. Later she wants to attend Meridian Community College to become a neonatologist.

Sanbrina Shanta Hunt Sanbrina Shanta Hunt is the daughter of Melissa Hunt and Walter Miller. She is in the following clubs: FBLA and SADD. She has received the following award: Top Design. Her most memorable moment has been all of her high school career. Her future plan is to attend East Central Community College and major in interior design.

Ecel Hogan Ecel Hogan is the daughter of Janice and Jimmie Hogan. She is in the following clubs and activities: Drama Club, member of Ladies Cats fast pitch and softball teams, and member of the basketball team. She has received the following awards an honors: 2008 and 2009 Newcomers Basketball Player, 2009 and 2010 Best Offensive Basketball player, all division, Best Defense and all division fast pitch, 2010 and 2011 Sharp Shooter. Her most memorable moment was making it to the North Half in softball. Her future plans are to attend College and major in physical therapy.

Zoe E. Coleman Zoe E. Coleman is the daughter of Andrew and Laura Coleman. She is in the following clubs and activities: Basketball, tennis and HOSA. She has received the following awards and honors: Citizenship Award and honor graduate. Her most memorable moment was when it snowed a lot her 11th grade year and kept on getting out early. Her future plans are to attend East Mississippi Community College to gain her RN license and become a traveling nurse.

She has received the following awards and honors: Distinction, all division track and basketball, and impact player. Her most memorable moment was shooting the wining shot in the basketball game against Newton. Her future plans are to attend East Mississippi Community College and UWA to major in sports medicine and minor X-ray Tech and play basketball.

Chonda Denise Lawson Chonda Denise Lawson is the daughter of Kim D. Gill. She is in the following clubs and activities: Beta Club, TSA, basketball, track, and band for two years. Her most memorable moment was when the Lady Cats played in the first round of the playoffs against Humphries County her junior year. Her future plans are to attend Grambling State University and major in chemistry.

Sametrice McMillian Sametrice McMillian is the daughter of Christina McMillian and Jeremy Dismukes. Her most memorable moment was when she fell on slippery ice. Her future plan is to go into the army.

Elbony Paty Elbony Paty is the daughter of Shirley Paty. She is in the following activity: Softball. Her most memorable moment was when the LHS football took a trip down to Macon in 2011 and beat them. Her future plan is to take classes at Mississippi State online.

Carl Steward Carl Steward is the son of Thelma Berry and Corey Carter. His most memorable moment was making the basketball playoffs for the first time in many years. His future plans are to join the Army then attend Yale.

Jamesha Le’Woneki Lewis Jamesha Le’Woneki Lewis is the daughter of Shirley Hardin, James Lewis and Helen Horneburger. She is in the following clubs and activities: beta club, Boys and Girls Club Volunteer, slow-pitch, JROTC, drama club, SADD, and basketball. She has received the following awards and honors: Honor graduate number 20, superior cadet in JROTC. Her most memorable moment was everyday in Mrs. Matthews’ class and making it to the 2nd round of playoffs in slow pitch. Her future plans are to go and complete her basic training this summer for the U. S. Army Reserve, then go to college the following spring and major in forensics.

Dee Ivy Dee Ivy is the son of Alidia Jackson Derek. His most memorable moment was when Mrs. Matthews pushed her rolling chair across the class. His future plans are to attend Mississippi State University and study computer engineering.
