Mrs. Dean Vance King Funeral services for Mrs. Dean Vance King were held at 2 pm Friday, June 8, 2012 at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Adcock and Rev. Randall Dunaway officiating. Rev. David King officiated the graveside service. Interment was in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County.John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dean Vance King, 70, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Doctors Hospital Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, after being injured in a fire on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 that destroyed her home in the Arlington Community.

She retired after working 25 years at Neshoba Central School.

Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 49 years, Belvin “Pete” King of Phila, MS; daughters, Geraldine Sammons of Phila, MS, Charlene Rushing of Phila, MS and Debbie McCann of Phila, MS; sister,Collene Collins of Phila, MS; brother, Thomas Vance of Phila, MS; (13) grandchildren; (8) great- grandchildren,

Pallbearers are Ray King, Jimmy King, Kenny King, J.R. Vance, Scotty Vowell, Johnny Gentry, Harold Collins and Roger Vance.

Mrs. Mary Joyce Eiland May 24, 2012 Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Joyce Eiland, 50, were held at Miller’s Chapel Church in Louisville on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. Rev. Curly Brown officiated. Burial at Union Chapel.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Eiland was an employee of Pearl River Resort. Mrs. Eiland was a member of Miller’s Chapel Church. Mrs. Eiland died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Hwy 25 South in Noxapater.

Survivors include mother, Annie E. Taylor; daughters, Jacklyn Eiland Holmes, step-daughters, Imojean Robertson, Thettrice Thomas, and Shalonda Thomas; step-son, Emmanuel Thomas; sisters, Mary Triplett, Lillian Taylor, Linda Eiland, Ella M. Taylor, and Debra Triplett, all of Louisville; brothers, Willam Eiland, Sammie Taylor, both of Louisville; 2 grandchildren.

Mr. Prentiss Earl Graham June 5, 2012 Funeral services for Mr. Prentiss Earl Graham, 69, were held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Louisville on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. Dr. Michael Taylor officiated.

Mr. Graham was a native of Winston County. Mr. Graham died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Jeff Anderson Hospital in Meridian.

Survivors include wife, Essie Dean Graham; daughter, Imogene Robertson; brother, Tony Curtis Graham; sisters, Gloria Fulweiley of Louisville, Edna Jaye Moore of Philadelphia, Polly Triplett of Baton Rouge, LA; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

Mrs. Zona Dare Shumaker May 26, 2012 Funeral services for Mrs. Zona Dare Shumaker, 47, were held at Nowell- Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 4 p.m. Rev. Trent Jaudon officiated. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Shumaker was a homemaker. Mrs. Shumaker was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. Mrs. Shumaker died on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at George Regional Hospital.

Survivors include husband, Paul Shumaker of Lucedale; mother, Faye Easterwood Sanders of Lucedale; father, Leffy Evan Wilkes of Gautier; daughter, Meagan Gressett of Pascagoula; Stephen Gressett of Pascagoula; sisters, Andrea Wilkes, Melissa Wilkes, Kayman Wilkes, Annette Wilkes; brothers, Wayne Moore, Jr., Leffy Wilkes, John Wilkes; 4 grandchildren.

Mrs. Burnadeen Duran

Mrs. Burnadeen Duran, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation was Wednesday, June 6, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will also be from 12 p.m. until service time at North Bend Pentecostal Church in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at North Bend Pentecostal Church in Philadelphia, Mississippi, with Rev. Johnny Peden, Rev. Burlon Commer, and Rev. Jonathan Stringfellow officiating. Interment was in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of local arrangements. Mrs. Duran was born March 15, 1930. She was a homemaker and a member of North Bend Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia. Mrs. Duran is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin A. Duran; and two daughters, Kay Stringfellow and Evelyn White and husband, Jule, all of Louisville, Mississippi. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jonathan Stringfellow and wife, Donya, Brittany Lishia and husband, Joseph, Lori Young, and Leah Wylie and husband, Jason. Mrs. Duran also has five great-grandchildren, Madalyn Young, Logan Young, BreAna Stringfellow, Haden Wylie, and Jaleigh Wylie. She has two step-grandchildren, Michael White and Bradley White; and two step-great-grandchildren, Christian White and Hailey White. Mrs. Duran was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Lula Ophelia Pope Burks; and son-in-law, Rev. Earl Stringfellow. Mr. Robert Lee (Bob) Sloan

Mr. Robert Lee (Bob) Sloan, 91, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will also be from 2 p.m.until service time on Sunday at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Beth-Eden Church Cemetery in Winston County. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home of Louisville is in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Sloan was born on June 10, 1920, in Noxubee County, Mississippi. He was retired with over forty years of service with BellSouth Telephone Company. He served in the Naval 24th Construction Battalion in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past Master of Beth-Eden Masonic Lodge #205, Shriner, Past Patron of Louisville Chapter #60 O.E.S., VFW, and Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of Beth-Eden Lutheran Church, a wonderful neighbor and friend of the community. He was an active member of Island X-24 Sea Bee Veterans of America, having just returned from their annual gathering in April. He was a graduate of Louisville High School. Mr. Sloan is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Edwards Sloan; his daughter, Helen Kaye Gilmore, and three sons, Robert “Bob” Sloan and wife, Sandra; Ricky B. Sloan and wife, Brey; and Jimmy Ray Sloan and wife, Denise. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Stephanie, Laura, Chris, Glenn, Anne, James, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Katherine; and four great-grandchildren: James, Jacob, Erin, Robyn. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Myra Edwards and Eloise Sloan and by a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. “Buddy” and Georgia Beatrice Prisock Sloan; five brothers: Marcus, M. K. (Jack), Sam, Charles, and Herman Sloan; also one sister, Burnice Sloan Whatley and one sister-in-law, Rachel Sloan and two brothers-in-law: W.T. Whatley and Charles Edwards. Pallbearers will be Chris Gilmore, Blake Edwards, Daniel Edwards, Steve Wright, Brett Ziegler, and Sam Presley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of Beth-Eden Church and the Masons of Beth-Eden Lodge #205.
