From press reports
The 5th – 11th graders Boys and Girls Club visited the Winston County Library.
They learned about getting a library card and the many free services available at the library. They learned about using the Magnolia Database for Term papers (a free database funded by the Mississippi State Legislature and available through public and academic libraries); they learned about Learn-A-Test, which is a free website offered through public libraries and is a way to take practice tests for the ACT, GED, ASVAB, firefighter, policeman, postal worker, beauty salon technician, and is also a study guide for all subjects in school. The young men and women also toured the library, including the new Teen Splash Room, which they really liked. Beth Edwards, Winston County Librarian, encouraged those that are 13 – 18 to consider joining the library’s Teen Council, which meets at 4:30 every second Tuesday of the month at the library. Or just attend the free Teen Programming which is available to anyone 13- 18 on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:30 at the library.
July’s Teen Program, on Tuesday, July 24, will be Arts & Crafts. The teens will paint colorful ceiling tiles, which will be placed in the ceiling of the Teen Splash Room.
