The state Department of Health is reporting 13 new human cases of West Nile virus, including one in Winston County.

The new cases were reported in DeSoto, Forrest, Hancock, Holmes, Lauderdale, Pike, Panola, Rankin, Scott, Walthall and Hancock counties, as well as two cases in Hinds.

There also have been five deaths reported cases, but none new since last week. This is the highest number of WNV cases ever reported in Mississippi.
