Winston Guards#2643 MS Division United Daughters of the Confederacy held it’s November meeting on November 12, 2012 at Lake Tiak O’Khata at 5:30p.m. Mrs. Frances Woodruff called the meeting to order at and led the group in prayer. We had sixteen members and four guests present. The table were covered with white tablecloths and fall colored napkins. Thanksgiving decorations were used on the tables. Fall leaves, a cornucopia and a turkey were used.

After our meal, we were honored by an appearance of “Steady On”. “Steady On” is a musical group that is under the direction of Teresa Ingram, a charter member of the Winston Guards. These talented you people prepared and presented this program to the 116th Annual MS Division UDC Convention in Starkville in September. They are a special group of talented you people who always delight us with their entertainment. Thank You “Steady On”, Teresa and your parents who always see that you are where you need to be.

The group opened the program with Chandler and Abbey Wells doing their rendition of “Just A Swinging”. Our next performer was Marly McMillin who sang “You are my Sunshine”. McKenna Foster, Abbey Wells, Nicole Roberson and Harley Thomas told us about their “Problem” ( as they described their hunting and fishing husband). Johnson Wells was next on stage with “I Miss Mayberry”. Abbey Wells once again entertained us with “Southern Girl” (Hard being a girl sometimes just want to be one of the boys). McKenna Foster and Harley Thomas next told us that these were “The Best Days of our Lives”. Chandler Wells, McKenna Foster, Abbey Wells and Johnson Wells done “All Things Southern”. Chandler Wells closed with a beautiful version of “God Bless the USA”.

Frances Woodruff opened the meeting with the pledges, salutes, songs and ritual. She presented Paula Daly with her membership certificate and Teresa Ingram with a Certificate of Appreciation for the work she does to help us with programs.

Frances also handed out the “Guardian”, the newsletter for Winston Guards and a booklet on the CSA unit Winston Guards, Co., A 13th MS Inf. and a complete history of the Winston Guards#2643. There were no minutes. Earline Stewart gave the Treasurer’s report. The December meeting will be on the 10th. Frances gave out on information on a group that gives out batteries to our troops. Our chapter will adopt James Flake and Joe Caperton from the Kosciusko VA nursing home for Christmas. We adjourned by holding hands and singing “Bless Be The Tie That Binds”.
