Talent contest, slate of events fill Saturday

A full slate activities will fill this Saturday’s calendar in Winston County.

Dec. 8: • Talent Show: 9 a.m. at the courthouse. Mainly Music of Louisville will be hosting a talent show contest to be held in front of the Winston County Courthouse. We would love to have any and all musicians, slots available for solitary, duet, and group artists. Each act will be allowed five minutes. We will have at least 3 different judges for the contest. The show starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until the last person has completed their performance. Prizes are first place is a $100 gift certificate from Mainly Music, second place is a gift $50 certificate from Mainly Music, and third place is a $25 gift certificate from Mainly Music. • Carl Jackson Concert: Two shows with first at 4p .m. and second at 7 p.m. Carl Jackson’s 16th Annual “Home for Christmas” Concert at the historic Strand Theater. Carl will be in concert with Nashville’s Jerry Salley, Larry Cordle, Valerie Storey, Bradley Walker, Johnny Rawls, and comedian Lonnie Shorr. Both shows are sold out. • Ball book signing: Francis Stewart Ball, author of “Front Porch Connection,” will have a book signing at the Cuppa restuarant from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the Carl Jackson concert. Her book is about growing up in Winston County during the depression years and beyond. • Musician Scott McQuaig will be performing in downtown Louisville in front of the courthouse from 1 to 4 p.m. See today’s edition for full details.
