Seized drug money used to buy shotguns for Sheriff’s office

From staff and press reports

The ill-gotten gains of criminals has placed new tactical shotguns in the hands of the Winston County Sheriff’s Department.

The Winston County Sheriff’s Department was able to use drug seized funds to purchase six Stevens 320 tactical shotguns.

The Winston County Board of Supervisors approved the use of the drug seized funds in its December 17, 2012 meeting up to $1,000. The purchase of the weapons was no cost to taxpayers and at the meeting Winston Sheriff Jason Pugh noted that seized drug money can be used by the sheriff’s office to help pay for drug enforcement activity and equipment.
