Area powerlifters fare well in state meet

While no competitor from Louisville, Noxapater or Nanih Waiya came
away with an individual Gold medal on Saturday at the MHSAA State
Powerlifting Championships, several local athletes placed in the event.

Noxapater’s Jarious Carter took second in the 123 pound class, while
Keon Coburn took second in the 198 pound class and Tyrell Carter
finished third.

Nanih Waiya had a trio of athletes take third place in their
respective weight classes. Cody Johnson took the bronze in the 308
pound class, while Andrew Patty was third in the 220 pound division
and Dylan Dent was third in the 165 pound class. Patty’s total weight
lifted was 1,015 pounds.

Deyon Sanders of NW was fifth in the 220 pound class, while Gentry
Hodge finished fifth among the 114 pounders.

Louisville also had three competitors finish in the top five in their
weight divisions in Class 4A. Jeremy Sangster was fourth in the 242
pound division, while Tyler Hickman was fourth in the 308 pound
division and John McAdory was fifth in the 308 pound division.
