Winners advance in Pitch Hit & Run Competition

The Winston County Youth Association held their local Pitch Hit & Run
competition on April 27. The event was open to all competitors ages
7-12, boys and girls.
Each competitor was judged on pitching for accuracy, hitting for
distance & accuracy, as well as a timed sprint. Winners in the three
age groups will move on to compete in the state competition to be
held in Tupelo this month.
In the girls’ 7-8 year old group, Anna grace Whitehead won Pitch,
Hit, Run, and Overall. For the 7-8 year old boys’ group, Austin Drury
won Pitch, while Aiden Hill won Hit, Run, and Overall.
For the girls’ 9-10 year old group, there was a three-way tie for
Pitch between Carley Peterson, Alyssa Shafer, and Dallyn Nance.
Carley also won Hit, Run, and Overall. In the boys’ 9-10 year old
group, Nick Stewart won for Hit, while Tatum Lake won Pitch, Hit, and
Overall.
Lila Rose Triplett won the Run, and Ajaah Baker won Pitch, Hit, and
Overall in the 11-12 year old girls’ group. For the 11-12 year old
boys’, Cody Clark and Tanner Luke tied for Pitch. Nash Vanlandingham
won Hit, Tanner Luke won Run, and Cody Clark won Overall.
In the final group, 13-14 year old boys’, Jake Knight won Pitch, Hit,
and Overall.
After the state competition, there will be a regional competition and
finally a national competition to be held in New York during the
Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July.
The Winston County Youth Association would like to thank all who
participated and attended this event.
