Wildcats take six firsts in regional track meet

Five Louisville High School track athletes finished in the top four
in their respective individual events during last Saturday’s Region
2-4A Track Meet held at Mississippi Valley State, qualifying them for
this week’s MHSAA Class 4A North State Track Meet.
Shan Thames took first in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of
12.54 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.76. Demarcus Brooks
won the boys 100 meter dash with a time of 11.35, while taking second
in the 200 meters with a time of 22.75.
Tyrekius Carter won the boys triple jump with a distance of 43 feet,
3.5 inches, while Tamia Dora won the girls 800 meter run with a time
of 2:44.38. Nichalus Shields also qualified for North State, which
will be held in Pontotoc, by taking fourth in the boys 300 meter
hurdles.
All six of Louisville’s relay teams qualified for North State.
The boys 4×200 relay team took first with a time of 1:31.37, while
the 4×100 was second and the 4×400 third.
The girls 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams both finished second, with the
4×100 squad coming in third.
The top four finishers in North State in each event will qualify for
the MHSAA Class 4A State Track Meet which will be held in Pearl on
Saturday, May 11.
