Louisville’s Yarbrough advances to second round

Louisville High School tennis standout Javon Yarbrough picked up a three-set win to advance to the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A State Tennis Tournament at Parham Bridges Tennis Center in Jackson last week. Yarbrough dropped his quarterfinals match to Keith Holmes of Greenwood 6-3, 7-5. After dropping the first set 6-2 in his opening round match, Yarbrough battled back to win the next two sets 6-3, 6-4. Walker Laseter of St. Stanislaus won the 4A title on Thursday with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 win over Joseph Schidler of Lewisburg.

The LHS girls doubles team of Shanteeze Carter and Qurteishia ‘Fancy’ Goss dropped their first-round match to a duo from Pontotoc by the score of 6-0, 6-2.
