A much-anticipated documentary about high school football in Mississippi is set to premiere next week, with two showings each set for Monday and Tuesday at the Hollywood Premiere Cinema in Starkville.

Mississippi Gridiron Gold is an 80-minute movie co-produced by noted attorney and author Mike Frascogna Jr. and former MHSAA executive director Dr. Ennis Proctor.

“I think as far as being an athletic state, this is a story that needed to be told on screen,” Proctor said.

The movie is filled with interviews, collected over the past three years, with legendary football coaches, as well as players and fans, who have helped build the legacy of high school football in Mississippi.

“It’s faith, family and football down here and sometimes we get those priorities skewed a little,” said current Madison Central and former Louisville High School head football coach Bobby Hall. “It’s 365 days a year. When football season is over people literally start counting down until it comes back again.”

The movie will be shown at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Monday and at the same times again on Tuesday. Tickets are $8 each and can be purchased at the door.
