Two new officers join the force

The ranks of the Louisville Police Department recently grew as two new officers were sworn in July 23.

Louisville Mayor Will Hill administered the oath of office to Joseph Chad Williams and hiring Constance P. Crosby . Louisville Police Chief L.M. Claiborne congratulated the officers on joining the department.

Joseph Chad Williams was hired in the July 2 meeting as a Police Rookie and Constance P. Crosby was hired as a Patrol Officer First Class.

Williams,29, had previously served as an auxiliary deputy in Attala County. He is scheduled to attend the police academy. His wife, Alicia attended the swearing in. They have two children, Gavin and Tucker.

“I want to serve and protect the citizens of Louisville,” said Williams.

Crosby received her certification in 2002 and began work with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department. She worked with the Jackson Police Department from 2004 until her move to Louisville.

“I saw this as an opportunity to use my knowledge in a new place and work diligently to help make this a better and safer place,” said Crosby. “I and my family have a passion to serve.”

Crosby has a two family members who are law enforcement in other places and a brother who works as a fireman in Jackson.

Newly promoted

In addition to two new officers, one officer increased his rank as Chief Claiborne and Assistant Chief Andy Taylor pinned Ed Hunt as a Captain on the force.

Hunt has served as an LPD officer for over 11 years and has been in law enforcement for 14 years.
