Head Start open house set for Aug. 30

The Winston County Head Start Complex preschool and early learning will host an open house Friday, August 30 from 2-6 p.m. Head Start staff will be available to talk with interested citizens and parents.

Head Start is a federally-funded child development program that works toward school readiness through social and educational activities. This program is open to income eligible and special needs children. Acceptance is based on family income.

Head Start employs teaching staff with degrees and offers comprehensive services to families. The staff also hopes to assist families with goals for parenting, literacy, education and employment.

A free breakfast and lunch are served each day. Bus transportation may be available for qualifying families. There is no fee for the preschool program.

Applications require proof of income, child’s record of immunizations, child’s birth certificate, and social security cards.

Regional Administrator Mattie Cooper invites all parents to attend.
