The Noxapater Lady Tigers had trouble pushing runs across the plate in its opening day of slow-pitch softball action, dropping a pair of games in the Winston County Classic played in Louisville on Saturday.

Noxapater fell to Nanih Waiya 12-2 in the season-opener, and then dropped an 11-3 decision to Louisville.

“We couldn’t get the offense going,” said Noxapater head coach Jodi Duran. “We are having some timing issues and are going to try and get that worked out this week.”

The Lady Tigers were set to host East Webster on Tuesday night and Kosciusko on Thursday, before taking part in the Leake Central Tournament in Carthage on Saturday. Noxapater’s game with Louisville on Aug. 26 has been cancelled.

Kiera Phillips, Breanna Glass and Madelyn Wilkes had two hits each for Noxapater in the loss to NW, while Treasure Lynch scored both of the Lady Tigers’ runs.

Glass banged out a double against LHS, while Lynch and Phillips added two hits apiece.
