Fortnightly meets in November for fall, Thanksgiving

The Louisville Fortnightly Club met November 13 at the home of Mrs. Andrew Eaves. Decorations of fall flowers and leaves reflected the season and a colorful paper turkey signaled the approach of Thanksgiving Tasty refreshments served by the hostess and co-hostesses Mrs. Jerry Webb and Mrs. Jimmy Burrage included a pastry cup of creamed chicken, molded orange salad and a sweet cache of candy corn kernels .A devotional of thanksgiving and gratitude was read by Mrs. Jerry Webb.

President Mrs. Andrew Eaves presided at the business meeting and led the group in pledging the allegiance to the American Flag and reciting the club pledge of purpose. Secretary Lynne Cunningham called the roll and read the minutes from the last meeting.

The Treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Stanley Hathorn. Mrs. T. L. Kirkpartick, recording secretary, read notes sent by Anna Clarie Webb thanking the club for their interest and support and Winston County Librarian Beth Edwards, expressing appreciation of the club’s annual gift to and continuing support of the Winston County Library. An annual gift to The Christian Friends by the club is also given at this time of year, and Mrs. Michael Cournoyer solicited personal donations from club members for the Adopt an Angel Tree at the Winston County Library. Club members Mrs. R. E. Clark and Mrs. T.L. Kirkpatrick introduced their guest for this meeting,

Mrs. Meredith Matthews and Mrs. J. D. Blanset. Mrs. Bob McLeod invited members to the December meeting when Mrs. Dewitt Crawford will be co-hostess.
