Mrs. Pauline Kennedy Miller

Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Kennedy Miller, 77, were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 28, 2013 at New Zion M. B. Church. Rev, W. L. Hightower officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Miller was a member of New Zion M. B Church, and was a homemaker. She was born in Louisville Febtuary11, 1936 and died at her residence Monday, December 23, 2013.

Survivors are her husband Spurgeon Miller of Louisville, three daughter, Marion Love, Ophelia Doss and Brenda Seward all of Louisville, two sons; Douglas Hudson Sr., of Louisville, and Douglas Hudson Jr. of San Antonia, TX. Four sisters Pandora Brown, Marion Murray, Josephine Samuel and Ethel Taylor, two brothers, David Kennedy and Sherman Kennedy and sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Roy B. Glenn

Funeral services for Mr. Roy B. Glenn, 72, were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday December 29, 2013 at Mt. Bell M.B. Church. Dr. Anthony McIntosh officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Miller was a member of New Zion M. B Church, and was a brick mason. He was born in Louisville June28, 1941 and died at Oktibbeha County Medical Center in Starkville Tuesday, December 24, 2013.

Survivors are his wife, Joan Glenn, four daughter, Diane Ownes, Zandra Glass, Seneka Luckett and Karen Glenn all of Louisville, one son; Jerry Glenn of Louisville; Four sisters Betty Sullivan, Lessie Porter, Margaret Hopkins and Bonnie Glenn all of Louisville, one brother, Willie Glenn and fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Mary Dell Glenn

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dell Glen, 94, were held at 12:00 noon Saturday December 28, 2013 at Pleasant Grove U. M. Church. Rev, Roosevelt Gage officiating. Burial followed in the Glenn cemetery

A native of Brooksville, Mrs. Glenn was a member of Pleasant Grove U. M. Church, and did domestic work and worker at Sparta. She was born in Brooksville March13, 1919 and died at her residence Thursday, December 19, 2013.

Survivors are two daughters, Dorothy Branson and Nell, six sons; Raymond, Marvin, John Russell, David, Robert Cleveland, and Decatur, three sisters Alice Edwards of Brooksville, Goletha Chandler of St. Louis; and Callie Porter of Chicago, one brother, Jimmie Shields of St. Louis and forty-eight grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends.

Mrs. Etta Mary Jackson Sykes

Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Mary Jackson Sykes, 70, were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 1, 2014 at Friendship M. B. Church. Dr. Rev, Willie M. Williams officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Garden

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Sykes was a member of St Luke Episcopal Church, and a retired Librarian with the Georgia Public School. She was born in Louisville December 2, 1943 and died Atlanta Georgia Saturday December 28, 2013.

Survivors are one son Johnny Jackson Jr. of Louisville, two nieces of Louisville.

William and Hampton Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

 

Mr. Harlon Comans

Graveside service for Mr. Harlon Comans were held at 2 PM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at High Hill Cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Comans, 61, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Infinity Hospice in Marion, MS. He lived most of his life in Meridian, MS, where he operated his lawn service.

Mr. Comans is survived by his daughter, Angel Comans of Meridian, MS; son, Lamar Comans of Meridian, MS; sisters, Gladys Brooks of Carthage, MS and Rachel Sanders of Meridian, MS; brothers, Mack Comans of Newton, MS, Nick Comans of Morton, MS, Wendell Comans of Meridian, MS and Kendall Comans of Alabama; (9) grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Stan Sanders, Rush Hembree, James Smith, Paul Oglesbee and Mike Wright.

 

Ms. Frances J. Overstreet

Funeral services for Ms. Frances J. Overstreet were held at 11 AM Friday, January 3, 2014 at DeKalb United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Sims officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Overstreet, 94, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at John C. Stennis Memorial Hospital in DeKalb, MS. She was a homemaker and a member of the DeKalb United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Diann Grisham of Florence, Alabama; son, James Overstreet, Jr. of Madison, Mississippi, (4) grandchildren; (4) great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Raymond Cumberland, Richard Hall, Bob Hawkins, Chuck Jordan, Raymond Jordan, Hal Overstreet & Hugh Overstreet.

 

Mrs. Sylvia Ann White

Mrs. Sylvia Ann White, 72, of Shuqualak, MS passed away suddenly at her residence on Sunday, Jan.5, 2013. Her funeral service will held on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 at Macedonia United Methodist Church near Shuqualak at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Sean Greer and Bro. Allen Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 6 until 8 P.M. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon and one hour prior to the service at the church. Any memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75231-9986.

Mrs. White was born in Tennessee on August 23, 1941 to the late William Preston and Christine Anell Burton Beasley. She attended school at Shuqualak and was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. She worked as a seamstress for Scooba Manufacturing Plant and Cal-Jac for many years.

Mrs. White is survived by Fred, her husband of 56 years, of Shuqualak, MS; 5  daughters: Darlene Black of Macon; Beverly Rigdon; Linda Higginbotham; Lisa Rigdon of; Christi Higginbotham all of Shuqualak; 2 sons: Richie White of Preston, MS and Michael White of Louisville, MS. Also left to mourn her passing are 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one sister: Eddie Pearl Fox of Shuqualak.

Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon has been entrusted with the services.

 

Ms. Patsy Ann Dunaway

Services for Patsy Ann Dunaway were held Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Sunrise Cemetery in Noxapater.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dunaway, 69, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at her home in Noxapater.  She was a native of the Conehatta community in Newton County and a longtime resident of the Noxapater community in Winston County.  Mrs. Dunaway was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Thomas of Noxapater, Patricia Gregg of Louisville, and Wanda Montgomery of Noxapater; sons, James David Dunaway of Noxapater, Robert Dunaway of Ellisville, and Stacey Dunaway of Noxapater; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie Bennett of Lake and Carolyn Sue Harrison of Conehatta; brother, Carlton Ray Alexander of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Pallbearers were Stacey Dunaway, Tyler Gaylord, Toby Parker, Justin Parker, Michael Kirk, Danny Jordan, and Danny Sullivan.

 

Mrs. Beatrice Chamblee

Mrs. Beatrice Chamblee, 91, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Cross Gates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon, Mississippi.  Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Chamblee was born July 21, 1922, to Nina Harper Boswell and John Madison Boswell.  She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and she was retired from Rankin County Public Schools.

She is survived by two sons, Granville Freeman of Lake, Mississippi; and Caley Gray, Jr. of Braxton, Mississippi; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two sisters, Angie Newell and Jean Hollis.

Services are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS.
