Grace Christian to host tournament

The Grace Christian School Eagles will be hosting a six-team basketball tournament this Friday and Saturday.

Play is set to begin at 5 p.m Friday featuring Starkville Christian taking on Diamond Grove. There will be a full slate of games on Saturday, beginning with Grace Christian playing at 8:30 a.m.

The Eagles were scheduled to take part in the Tupelo Christian Tournament last Saturday, but it was cancelled.

In Grace Christian’s lone game last week, the Eagles fell to county foe Nanih Waiya 49-22. The Warriors led 17-6 after one quarter of play and 31-12 at the half.

Lucas Borntrager and Daniel Halfacre led the Eagles in scoring with six each, while Dalton Hartness and Michael Fuller scored three each and Nick Hogue and Alex Taylor each scored two.

The Eagles were scheduled to have played Jackson Victors at home on Tuesday, leading into the GCS Tournament. On Jan. 27 Grace Christian is scheduled to visit Bethlehem, before hosting Starkville Christian on Jan. 28 and Tupelo Christian on Jan. 30 to close out the regular season.
