The Louisville Board of Aldermen covered the closeout of the South Columbus road project and covered other business items in the January 8 meeting.
The board approved closing out the South Columbus paving project after receiving the final $11,181.94 of grant funds from the MDOT and paying Calvert Spradling $1,198 for the completed work.
In other business, the aldermen: • Approved minutes from December meeting • Provided giving the owner of 211 Pond Street additional 30 days to cleanup while code enforcement officer Jody Fulton got quotes on in case property had to be cleaned by the city. Board will review at the February 4 meeting. • Reappoint to Louisville housing authority Robert Finch for five years. • Accepted Paul Simmons resignation as city election commissioner. • Appointed Steve Quinn for unexpired term for city election commissioner. • Authorize two airport payments for $2330. • Approve the recommendation for CDBG 2013 project for the three members that will review the application. • Tabled the Inter local agreement with Winston County for housing prisoners. • Authorized docket of claims $155,612.46 • Authorized payment to IPFC for $4,113.10 from Red Hills Salvage. • Authorize payment to APAC $1037.48 for asphalt. • Transferred $10,000 to E911 from general fund. • Notified of live burn fire training near hwy 25 on Jan. 19 • Discussed the continuing creosote cleanup near Church Street • Advertise for asphalt prices versus time to buy. • Discussed Jake’s Recycling and progress on the proposed move. • Discussed Hearing on rental ordinance set for Jan. 15. • Noted the meeting of the upcoming Zoning board. • Discussed the chances of the Motel/Hotel three percent tax for Louisville being approved in the House or Senate.
