Always call 911 in emergencies

From Press Reports

The Winston County Sheriff’s Department and Louisville Police Department reminds county residents to call 911 on all calls when they need assistance.

Certified emergency dispatchers are on duty 24 hours a day to assist people and get the proper agencies to them for help. If you need law enforcement, an ambulance or the fire department, call 911.

Winston 911 dispatches all emergency calls so the calls can be properly recorded and the proper agency sent to the scene quickly. Calling another agency such as the sheriff’s office only causes that agency to have to transfer an emergency call to 911, taking longer to get the information needed and taking longer to send help.

Also, anyone who has not posted their 911 address visible from the road should do so now. Emergency responders must be able to see your address from the road to locate you.
