Annual 4th of July parade this week

From press and staff reports

As the summer season heats up, the Winston County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Association gear up for the annual Red, White and Blue Children’s parade Friday, July 1.

Winston Countians take the time every year to celebrate America’s birthday as children ages 12 and younger will parade down Main Street in their favorite “ride” decked to perfection in our Patriotic colors of red, white, and blue.

Chamber Director Linda Skelton is excited about the upcoming event. “We are asking kids 12 and under to bring any type of “ride” they would like,” she said. “We ask that the rides that they bring are not motorized.”

After the parade citizens are invited to enjoy fireworks, food, and fellowship at Lake Tiak O’Khata where a fireworks display will take place at 9 a.m.

“We are asking all Winston Countians and visitors to come help us celebrate the freedoms made possible by our veterans who came before and the veterans of today as well.”

Sponsors for the event will be Lake Tiak O’Khata, Winston Medical Center, Winston County Journal, Beck Funeral Home, Dihann McCullough Realty, Woods Grocery, The Louisville Bankers Association, M&N Computers, Polo Custom Products, Judy McLeod, Julie Cunningham, Kim Ming, and Michael Evans.
