Every Year, the local DAR Guard Citizens Program recognizes a senior who best represents what it means to be a good citizen, by their dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.

The students were asked to write an essay on “Our American heritage and how we preserve it, so that the winner could be selected. This year, the essay winner and good citizen is Austin Baskin. Austin is the son of Wade and Bethany Baskin, and the younger brother of a former DAR Good Citizen.

He is a senior at Winston Academy where he is a straight A student, a member of the Honor Society, and a member of the tennis team. His future plans are to graduate for WA then attend Mississippi State where he will major in Physical Therapy.
