Taqee Mullins’ life ended 23 years to the day after he was born. Mullins died from a stab wound during his birthday bash Saturday, March 1.
Marvin Dash, 33, sits in a cell at the Winston Choctaw County Regional Correctional Facility charged with murder and a bond set at $500,000.
During his initial appearance municipal Judge David Wilson set the bond and assigned Dash a court appointed attorney after learning Dash had been unemployed since 2009.
Dash prior to the appearance voiced several times the incident occurred in self defense. According to reports, Mullins who was celebrating his 23rd birthday was stabbed during an altercation between Dash and another party goer. Mullins stabbed and bleeding from a chest wound was transported to the Winston Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The Louisville Police Department collected evidence and statements and made an arrest within minutes of the call to police about the stabbing.
Dash is facing a possible life sentence if found guilty on the charge of murder.
Coincidental another stabbing had Louisville Police busy Friday night, feb. 28 as Jason Vaughn, 51, was arrested for the stabbing of J.W. Bennett, 53. Bennett is in meridian in critical condition after being stabbed in the abdomen.
Vaughn is charged with and is in custody at the WCCRCF.
LPD made the arrest moments after the crime was reported.
In both incidents LPD assistant police chief Andy Taylor complimented the work of the officers in making a swift arrest of the suspects.
