Joe Mac Hudspeth, Jr. is a free-lance wildlife photographer, and a life-long Mississippian. He has a new self-published coffee table book of deer, ducks, turkeys, gators, gallinules, Mississippi scenery and other critters that he has taken throughout Mississippi over the last 30 years.
Joe mac hudspethPurpleGallinule-2Joe’s first attempt to capture wildlife began some thirty years ago when he photographed a sunning screech owl with a Kodak 110 Pocket Instamatic camera. His work now appears in numerous states, regional and national publications. The year of 1993 he received national recognition when his image of an immature least bittern, taken on the Ross Barnett Reservoir was awarded the “grand prize for wildlife” by the Roger Tory Peterson Institute for Natural History. His work is also featured on Mississippi duck stamps and Sportsman’s licenses AND HIS MOST POPULAR PRINT, “Top of the Morning”, is still a favorite at Duck’s Unlimited Banquets. In 2003 his book In the Southern Wild was published and he self-published, Return to the Southern Wild in 2011.
