Winston Academy ventured to Jackson late last week to take part in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Overall Track and Field Championships – and a pair of Patriots brought home state runner-up finishes.

Winston’s Jesse Boydstun was second in the boys’ triple jump, while teammate Isaac Keen was second in the boys’ pole vault.

Boydstun had a total of 42 feet in finishing as the state runner-up, while Keen cleared 12 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault.

Winston placed in five events total, with Boydstun and Keen each placing in a pair of separate events.

Boydstun was fifth overall in the boys’ 100m dash, finishing in 11.52 seconds. Keen, meanwhile, was seventh overall in the boys’ 100m hurdles after finishing in 18.92 seconds.

Marla Hudson of Winston also had a strong finish, taking fourth place in the girls’ long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 8.75 inches.
