Prevent Bullying workshop to be held

On March 20 the Family Center is doubling our workshop to provide information on the new PARCC Field tests.  Mrs. Tammy Parks and Mrs. Samaria Hudson will provide information on ways to Prevent Bullying from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Family Center.  Dr. Nola Bryant, Director of Assessments and Professional Development, will discuss the new PARCC Assessment from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m.  The school year, 3 grades in the LMSD have been chosen for the PARCC Field Tests.  The PARCC Field Tests will be given March 24 through April 11.

The Spokesmen in concert

The Spokesmen will be in concert Sunday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 4109 Old Robinson road in Louisville.

Oak Grove # 2 M. B. Church taking trip to Iowa May 2

Oak Grove #2 M.B. Church will be going to Davenport IA. Calvary Apostolic spring health fair

The Calvary Apostolic health fair will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at 104 Beal Street in Louisville.

Democratic meeting March 30

There will be a county-wide mass Democratic Meeting on Sunday, March 30th, 5:00 p.m. at the Winston County’s Courthouse.

Winston Medical Center Auxiliary To Host Book Fair March 25

The Winston Medical Center Auxiliary is hosting a Books are Fun Book Fair on March 25, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Activity Room of the nursing home.  The auxiliary raises money to help purchase needed items for the hospital and nursing home.  For more information contact Brandi Krajewski 662-779-5111.

FPU classes set

Barbara Culberson, Marriage Educator for Building Strong Families will be facilitating Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University classes every Monday at 6: 00 p.m. beginning 3/24/14 through 5/26/14.  These classes will be held at Winston Place Apartments Clubhouse in Louisville, MS.  For more information call 662.769.2560.

Gordon Family Reunion March 23

The annual Gordon Family Reunion will be held at the Panhandle Community Center in Choctaw County on Sunday, March 23, 2013 with lunch being served at the noon hour followed by a cakewalk.  You are also welcome to attend the worship services at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church at 11:00.  All descendants of William and Eliza Jane Farrar Gordon are urged to attend and friends and neighbors of the family are welcome.

Pesticide Training Meeting March 24

There will be a Pesticide Training Meeting in Winston County on Monday night, March 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Winston County Extension Office.

Trail Ride April 5

A Trail Ride will be held on Saturday, April 5 in south Winston County. It will leave the Indian Springs church parking lot at 10 a.m. and return in 5-6 hours. Bring your sack lunch for the trail. Food will be served at the end of the ride by the ladies of Indian Springs.

“If you don’t have a horse, come ride in one of the wagons with us!” The church is located at the intersection of Hwy. 25 and Mt. Calvary Church Rd., 12 miles south of Louisville or 6 miles north of Hwy. 19.

Greensboro Day

Families and Friends of the Greensboro Community will celebrate Greensboro Day on Saturday, April 5, 2014.  Greensboro Day will offer activities and entertainment for the entire family.  Come and enjoy music, singing, and great food. For children, inflatable jumpers, facing painting, and sporting activities will be available.  The celebration will include a Greensboro’s Community Parade. The Mt. Moriah M.B. Church of Louisville Spring Revival will begin Sunday, April 6, 2014.  Rev. Lee Carson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Kosciusko, will be the guest evangelist.  Services will be held Sunday night through Wednesday night beginning at 7 pm.  The public is cordially invited to come and share with us in our revival services.

Red Hills Art Association’s  36th Annual Art event May 16—23

Red Hills Art Association would like businesses and individuals in our community to participate in our Purchase Awards on Thursday May 15th 11:00am until 1:00pm at Winston County Library.  We understand that we have new businesses and individuals in Winston County. Each individual or business will promise to award their ribbon to an artist and buy this art work of their choice. This day is called Purchase Award Day. Airport board meeting First Monday

The Louisville-Winston County Airport Authority board announces that it will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on the first Monday of each month. Said meetings will begin at 5:30 pm and will be conducted at the City of Louisville board room, City Hall, Louisville.

AA meets on Monday and Wednesday nights

Louisville/Winston County Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet Monday and Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of the community house.

Paparazzi meet fourth Thursday of each month

The Winston County Paparazzi are meeting on fourth Thursday of each month. The Winston County Paparazzi is working with the MSU Extension Office in Louisville to offer monthly meetings for photography enthusiasts. La Leche League of Louisville

La Leche League of Louisville meets monthly on the 4th Saturday of each month from 1-2 p.m. at the County Extension Building. Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteers have many opportunities with Sta-Home such as providing companionship to patients and caregivers, shopping for the families, light housekeeping, baking and cooking, filing and making phone calls.  Currently we are looking for volunteers ages 16 years and older with a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
