For more information call Angie at 662-418-6454 Canoeing April 21 The Friends of Noxubee Refuge will hold Canoeing Bluff Lake, on Saturday April 21 from 9 a.m – 3 p.m. Canoes, life jackets and paddles will be available for canoeing on Bluff Lake at no charge. This is a great opportunity to explore canoeing, the rookery and cypress stands. Canoes will be launched on the west side of Bluff Lake near the fishing boardwalk. JA Tasting Tea April 21 Junior Auxiliary will be hosting a Tasting Tea on April 21, 2012 at the First Methodist Church from 11am to 1 pm. There will be a silent auction as well as great food. All proceeds go to help the children of Winston County. Trail Ride set for April 21 A Trail Ride will be held on Saturday, April 21 in south Winston County. It will leave the Indian Springs church parking lot at 10 a.m. and return in 5-6 hours. Bring your sack lunch for the trail. Food will be served at the end of the ride by the ladies of Indian Springs. “If you don’t have a horse, come ride in one of the wagons with us!” The church is located at the intersection of Hwy. 25 and Mt. Calvary Church Rd., 12 miles south of Louisville or 6 miles north of Hwy. 19. Union Chapel to host events April and April 22 April 15 – Union Chapel M.B. Church will have a dedication program dedicating their new facility on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. The Precinct Caucuses will start at 10 am at the regular voting precincts. The County Convention will follow at 3 PM at the courthouse. We will be electing our representative and alternate to the State Republican Convention on May 18 – 19 at the Marriott Hotel in Jackson. Arts in Motion Registration April 28 Arts in Motion is currently having registration for the following upcoming events: My Little Angel Pageant (April 28, 2012), and Parade of Colors Pageant (June 9, 2012). The Habitat for Humanity is also seeking board members with construction and other knowledge to help advise on the present home building project The Winston County Paparazzi The Winston County Paparazzi is working with the MSU Extension Office in Louisville to offer monthly meetings for photography enthusiasts. The meetings are the fourth Thursday of each month at the MSU Extension Office in Louisville at 6pm and are open to everyone. Backwoods Comics Fest set Sept. 29 This week at BUBBAWORLDCOMIX.NET website a different artist is drawing and writing each strip each day in celebration of April Fools Week. The fun thing about this is that each of the six artists that are helping with this will be at the BACKWOODS COMICS FESTIVAL on Sept. 29, 2012 held at the Louisville Coliseum. Some of them will even be part of the panel discussion at the Strand Theater the night before ( Sept. 28 ). These artists range from Web Cartoonists to independent artists and even a couple of them have worked for companies like Marvel & DC.
