NW to hold ring ceremony NW Baseball Championship Ring Ceremony Sept. 1, 12:30 p.m.The 2012 Nanih Waiya baseball state championship ring ceremony will be held this Saturday, Sept. 1 at 12:30 p.m. at TJ Miles Field. Come out and help the Warriors celebrate this occasion. The public is invited to attend.

Buggy Day Sept. 1 The Friends of Noxubee Refuge will hold Buggy Day and Night on Saturday September 1 from 3:00 until 9:30 p.m. in the Refuge Visitor Center. This is an excellent opportunity to start an insect collection. The afternoon will be spent collecting insects with nets that will be provided along with collecting jars. After dark, insects will be collected with the aid of ultraviolet lights. Participants will be taught how to pin their collections and will be able to take their collections home. Bring a sack lunch and drink and a box to carry collections in. Call 323-5548 for more information.

Goodin Reunion Sept. 2 The annual Goodin Reunion will be September 2, 2012 at the Neshoba County Coliseum. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Please bring a covered dish.

Caperton Reunion September 2 The descendants of Samuel Henry Caperton and Sarah Frances Ball will gather at Mollie Estes/J. W. Young Park in Noxapater, MS on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Pot Luck Lunch will be served at noon. Please make plans to come and fellowship with the Caperton Clan.

Winston Guards to meet Sept. 3 Winston Guards No. 2643 United daughters of the Confederacy will meet Monday September 3rd at 5:30 at Lake Tiak’O Khata

Retired Education Personnel of Miss. meeting Sept. 6 Retired Education Personnel of Miss. meeting is set for September 6, 2012 in Louisville City Hall at 1:00 PM. Speakers will be Representative Ted Evans, Senator Gary Jackson, Senator Sampson Jackson and Senator Giles Ward. They will discuss 2012 Legislative update

The Noxapater REPM members will have their picture made. A donation for the Winston County Boys & Girls Club will be taken up at the meeting.

LHS Class of 1982 Sept. 7 The LHS class of 1982 will be holding its 30th class reunion on September 7 and 8, 2012. Activities include LHS football tailgate party beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friday night and a benefit walk for the American Heart Association. The public is invited to participate in the walk to raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association. A $5 registration is requested from the public to participate in the walk. Fulton Benefit Fundraiser Sept. 8 Benefit Fundraiser for Randy Fulton and Tammy Fulton will be held to help offset medical bills incurred by an accident Randy suffered 3 years ago. The benefit will be held Saturday, September 8 at Bethel Baptist Church on Highway 14 E. Tickets are being sold for chicken plates which include: grilled leg quarters, potato salad, baked beans, dessert, and bread. Tickets are $7.00. Rives Reunion to be held Sept. 16 Annual Rives Reunion will be held September 16, 2012 at Betheden Community Center (the old school) from 10:00 am until. All family and friends are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish and come enjoy the food and fellowship.

Habitat event set Sept. 28 Habitat Cotton Gin Festival Kick-Off Concert will be September 28, 2012 at the Catfish Opera in Noxapater MS, from 7:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m. The Red Hills String Band will be performing bluegrass, country and gospel. Backwoods Comics Fest set Sept. 29 Cosplay will be going on at the BACKWOODS COMICS FESTIVAL on Sept 29th at the Coliseum in Louisville. What is Cosplay you ask. It’s simply dressing up in costumes. No need to wait for Halloween when you’re a geek or nerd, there’s plenty of times to costume up for comic cons and festivals. If you’re a Doctor Who fan then you will be glad to know that there will be folks at the Festival dressed as various Doctors from the show. Anime fans will be dressed as Anime characters. In fact there will be an Anime fan group present at the Festival. You may see super heroes , Jedi’s , Stormtroopers, Steampunkers, and maybe a Darth Vader or two. Cotton Gin Festival Sept. 29, 2012 The Noxapater Community Alliance will host their annual Cotton Gin Festival on September 29, 2012. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever. Church campaign Pastor Robert E. Brownlee, Sr. and members of the Agape Church are pleased to announce our participation in the Clothes for Christ Campaign. They are asking for donations of old clothing and shoe to bless this ministry.
