Used Book Sale
May 2-4, 9 a.m.
The Friends of the Winston County Library will hold a used book sale
in the library on May 2-3 from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m, and May 4 from
9 a.m. until 11 a.m. There will be many books in all categories at
bargain prices. Come in and get your supply for good summer reading.
National Day of Prayer
May 2, 12 noon
The Baptist Association and First Baptist Church are hosting National
Day of Prayer on Thursday May 2 at First Baptist Church in Louisville
at noon. Service will be held in the parking lot and hot dogs will be
served for lunch.
Senior Citizen Celebration
May 2, 2013
Winston County Triad Senior Citizen Day celebration will be held on
May 2, 2013 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at Dean Park in Louisville. The
public is invited. Mike Skipper will do a presentation on raised bed

Friends of Dean raising funds May 4
Friends of Dean Park, Inc., (FODP) invites you to join them for their
Walmart Day on Saturday, May 4, 2013, 8:00 a.m. – 7 p.m. FODP
solicits donations at Waltmart twice yearly to help with special
projects that they sponsor at Dean Park. Come on by Walmart’s and
leave a tax deductible donation for the park. You are invited to come
by the park and see the work that is being done in the landscape and
garden this spring. A Mother’s Day basket will be given to a lucky
person on Walmart Day. Anyone who makes a donation of $1.00 or more
will be entered in a drawing for the basket that is made by Just
Because I Love You Gifts, proprietor Versie Estes. The drawing will
be promptly at 7: 00 p.m. You do not have to be present to win.
COGIC to raise funds May 4
Warren Chapel COGIC Women’s Department fundraiser rummage sale and
cookout at Dean Park HWY 15 South of Louisville, 7:00 a.m. until 1:00
p.m. Saturday May 4, 2013.

37th Annual Gospel Singing Jubilee
May 4, 6:30 pm.
The 37th Annual Gospel Singing Jubilee will be held at Pearl Parks &
Recreation Center off Hwy 80 East in Pearl, MS on May 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Mathiston Mayfest May 4
MayFest in the Park will be held this Saturday, May 4, beginning at 9
AM and going on into the night. MayFest will be held in Mathiston’s
Park. Come enjoy a day of shopping and listening to some great

EWVFD Spaghetti Supper May 4, 2013
East Winston Vol Fire Dept will have a spaghetti supper held at the
FD located on Hwy 14 E on May 4, 2013 beginning at 5:00 pm. Dine in
or Carry-out, $5 per plate. Also, will have a cake walk.
Mount Pleasant No 2 M. B Church Dance Ministry will sponsor their
first carnival at the church location Saturday, May 4, 2013. Time
beginning at 10:00 a.m.- until. There will be face painting, crafts,

Memorial service May 5
Memorial Service at Dry Creek Church May 5 at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will

Homecoming to be held May 5
Liberty Baptist Church will have their homecoming service on Sunday,
May 5th at 10:30 am with lunch at 12:00 noon. Guest speaker will be

Winston Guards to host event May 6
WINSTON GUARDS No. 2643, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will
meet Monday, May 6, at 5:30 at Lake Tiak-O’Khata.
AARP to host May 8 event
Winston County Area AARP Chapter No. 2859 will hold their May 8, 2013
meeting in City Hall at 2:00 pm. This is our last meeting before
vacation. Members are asked to please be present.

A gospel explosion will be held at the Strand Theatre on May 11 at 6
p.m. Featured group of the night will be The Mighty Disciples of
Louisville, as well as other guest group and soloist. Come help us
celebrate this glorious occasion.
Elite Cheer May 11
North Mississippi Elite Cheer is going to host cheer tryouts for its
competitive cheer squad on May 11, 2012 in Ackerman, Mississippi.
Anyone who wishes to advance in tumbling skills, cheerleading, and
advanced stunts will benefit from this organization. NME is looking
for kids ages 3 years to 18 years of age who are boys or girls
seeking to grow. A cheer clinic held will be on May 7 at 5 p.m. for

Beth-Eden Memorial Day set for May 12
The annual Memorial Day at Beth-Eden Lutheran Church will be Sunday,
May 12 and 11:00 am with Tim Clark, lay-speaker for the United
Methodist Church, delivering the sermon. There will be a covered-dish
dinner following the worship service. The Beth-Eden Cemetery
Committee will meet on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 pm at the church.
Red Hills Senior Citizens
May 14, 11 a.m.—2 p.m.
Red Hills Senior Citizens will meet at the Louisville Coliseum
Tuesday, May 14 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Please bring a covered dish.

Dixon Day will be held Saturday May 18 at the Neshoba Co. Fairgrounds
beginning at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served picnic style. All former

JA Red Hills Festival 5K set for May 25
4th Annual Junior Auxiliary / Red Hills Festival 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile
Fun Run May 25, 2013
5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday May 25, 2013 at
Cash awards rewarded to top male and female winner. Top finisher in
Fun Run will also receive cash prize. Drawing held for two
additional cash prizes for Fun Run participants. Trophies awarded
to top three in each age group of 5K Run/Walk.
Pre-registration $20.00 ($25 on Race Day). Pre-registered
participants will receive a T-shirt if registration received by /
post marked by May 6th. Registration forms are available on-line at

Spelling contest May 31
Do you have what it takes to stand against the rest. Sign up to
participate in I’ll Rise End of School Spelling Bee coming May 31,
2013 and June 1, 2013. Pre-register starts now and ends March 31,
2013. Late registration ends April 3. Sign up Fees: $15 before March
31, 2013, $25 before April 30, 2013. Payment must be received along
with signup sheet in order to hold your child’s spot in the Spelling
Bee. All Mississippi Public Private, and Home Schooled Children are
encouraged to compete. No area restriction all children are welcome
to participate. Grades Competing: Head Start – 8th. A cash prize up
to $350 or 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be given.

Hamm Reunion June 8
James and Margaret Hamm Reunion will be June 8 from 10:00 am – 3:30
pm at Macedonia Baptist Church Life Center on HWY 397. Come bring a
covered dish and enjoy food and fellowship with us.
Walking in Wellness each Saturday
A Walking and Wellness group will be walking Saturdays from 9:00am –
10 am at Ivy Park in Louisville. All are invited to come enjoy the
exercise and fun.
Louisville/Winston County Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet Monday
and Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m. beginning the first week of January
2012 on the second floor of the community house. Meetings until then
will still take place on Wednesday and Friday nights at 7:30 p.m.
The Winston County Paparazzi is working with the MSU Extension Office
in Louisville to offer monthly meetings for photography enthusiasts.
The meetings are the fourth Thursday of each month at the MSU
Extension Office. in Louisville at 6pm and are open to everyone. For

La Leche League of Louisville meets monthly on the 4th Saturday from
