The MSU Extension Service is sponsoring a surplus flower and bedding plant sale at the A.B. McKay Food Research and Enology Lab on the Mississippi State University campus’s North Farm Friday, July 26, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Saturday, July 27, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Plants will be 2/$1.

Final Service for St. John’s Lutheran Church July 28

Retirement Reception July 28

Calvary Baptist Church will honor their pastor, Rev. Ricky McKay, with a retirement reception at the Baptist Association Building located at 1001 North Columbus Avenue, Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Rev. McKay is having to retire from the pastorate due to health reasons.


Annual Summer Revival July 28

Annual Summer Revival will be held at Friendship MB Church located at 506 Jones Ave. Louisville, MS starting Sunday night, July 28, at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, July 29 through Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m

The evangelist for the Revival will be Reverend Jerry Lee, the pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church located in Louisville, MS.


Agape Baptist Church Women’s Ministry July 28

Agape Baptist Church Women’s Ministry and Pastor Robert E. Brownlee, Sr. will be hosting a program on July 28, 2013. The speaker for the morning servicer will be Sir LaJune Taylor and the guest speaker for the evening service will be Prophetess Charlotte Berry and the Unity Church Family. The theme will be Proverbial Women of God (Proverbs 31: 10-31). The color scheme for this evening will be black and white zebra print with hot pink on turquoise, any variation will do. We are looking forward to a blessed time in the Lord and your presence will be greatly appreciated. We also have other surprised that are sure to bless your souls, so come out and be blessed. The morning service will begin at 11:00 AM and the evening service will be at 3:00 PM.


Enon Baptist Church Revival July 28

Prayer Walk July 28

The Winston Baptist Board of WMU Directors will sponsor a “PRAYER WALK” for the local schools. It will be held at the Louisville Coliseum on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 2:00-3:00pm. Representative groups from each church are strongly encouraged to attend.


REPM meeting August 1

The Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi meeting will take place on August 1, 2013 at Louisville City Hall. The meeting will begin at 1:00 pm. The speaker is Forest Thigpen, President of the Mississippi Center for Public Policy, and the topic will be on Nuts & bolts of the Charter Schools of Mississippi. A picture will be made of the Noxapater REPM retirees.

The East Winston Volunteer Fire Department will host a a spagetti supper August 3 to help raise funds for the departments projects to improve service and lower insurance rates for the area.

63rd MCMILLIN REUNION – August 3 – 4

McMillin and Related Families of Louisville and Winston County will hold their annual reunion at Lake Tiak O’Khata on August 3 and 4.

Annual Adcock Family Reunion August 10

The family of Elzie and Ardella Adcock will be having their annual family reunion at J. W. Young, Mollie Estes Park, Noxapater, MS, Hwy 15 South, Saturday, August 10, 2013 beginning at 10:00 A.M. There is a playground where the small children will have a place to play and enjoy themselves. Republican Women Meeting Speaker August 12

Michael Cravens, Chief of Staff for Greg Harper, will be the speaker at the Republican Women Meeting on Monday August 12th at noon at Lake Tiak O’ Khata. Michael will be providing an update on issues in Washington. The public is invited to attend as Michael is from Winston County and always gives a very good presentation of Washington politics.


Shots required for school

All 7th grade students must have the 7th grade immunization shot before school begins on August 5th. Immunization shots can be given at your local health department or pediatric clinic. If you have any questions, please contact the Eiland Middle School office or your local health department.


Walking in Wellness each Saturday

A Walking and Wellness group will be walking Saturdays from 9:00am to 10 am at Ivy Park in Louisville. Walk, Exercise and Tennis Every Saturday morning. All are invited to come enjoy the exercise and fun.


AA Meets

Louisville/Winston County Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet Monday and Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m. beginning the first week of January 2012 on the second floor of the community house. Meetings until then will still take place on Wednesday and Friday nights at 7:30 p.m.


The Winston County Paparazzi on fourth Thurs of each month

The Winston County Paparazzi is working with the MSU Extension Office in Louisville to offer monthly meetings for photography enthusiasts. La Leche League of Louisville meets monthly on the 4th Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the County Extension Building. The Class of 1973 will be having two more meetings before their 40th Year Class Reunion. August 3, and August 24, at Louisville City Hall at 2:00 p.m.


Mental Health course available

Community Counseling Services will be teaching a Mental Health First Aid Course in

LOUISVILLE! We are so excited…You may know CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver. You

can call 911 but can you administer First Aid in a MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS?

It is easy to tell when someone might be suering from a heart attack, is choking, or

is unable to breathe. What does depression look like? Or anxiety? Have you met people experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial help given to a person showing symptoms of mental illness or in a

mental health crisis (severe depression, psychosis, panic attack, suicidal thoughts, nand behaviors…) until appropriate professional or other help, including peer and family support, can be engaged.

Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour course taught by Community Counseling

Services’ certied

instructors. The class is broken into part 1 and part 2; both parts must be completed in order to be Mental Health First Aid Certied. They are offering:

MHFA classes so choose the Part 1 course and Part 2 course that best fits your schedule.

Part 1 will be taught Wednesday, July 24 and Friday, July 26 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Part 2 will be taught Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.

The MHFA Training location will be at the Louisville Fire Department, 304 South

Spring Avenue. Participants will break each day from 12 noon until 1:00 pm for lunch.

The cost of the MHFA class is $50. This price covers textbooks, materials and the cost of two instructors.

As the number of Americans suffering from mental illness continues to rise, treatment for front-line professionals becomes even more important! This class is internationally and nationally recognized as a lifesaving course. They look forward to working with you and your sta so that everyone becomes trained as to how to handle mental health situations as they occur in our community!
