Some citizens of Winston County hope to create another haven for walkers, children and those seeking enjoyment outdoors.
The non-profit group Friends of Nanih Waiya Community Park are aiming to get all interested persons to join together and help create a community park in Nanih Waiya.
Jerry Hemphill, the president of the group, noted that the present members are looking at a possible property for a starting point for the park and could grow from there.
Hemphill noted when the property is gained the group hopes to start with a walking track. After creating a walking track the group could add other amenities such as a playground, basketball court, picnic areas, and much more as planning allows.
The group hopes to raise $75,000 for the project and is working on community grants for the project.
The group is a 501C3 and is in the preliminary stages of the idea and planning. They have setup a Facebook page under Friends of Nanih Waiya Community Park and have received over 463 likes so far.
