From press reports
April is Donate Life month, a time set aside to enlighten the public about the need for organ transplants. While not everyone can be an organ donor, Mississippi Blood Services wants to remind you that there is one renewable resource available to hospital patients in need: blood. Blood donors can donate whole blood every 56 days, double red cell donors can donate every 112 days and platelet donors can donate every seven days (up to 24 times in a 12 month period). There will be a community blood drive on Sunday, April 29, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The MBS Donor Coach will be parked at the Louisville Walmart. All donors will receive a T-shirt. “Donating blood is one of the easiest things we can do to save a life,” Susan Ates, MBS PR Specialist, said. “The process is simple and only takes a little of your time but the results are far reaching and amazing—saving a life.” Call 1 (888) 90-BLOOD (1-888-902-5663) or visit www.msblood.com http://www.msblood.com to schedule your appointment today.
