COLLEGE STATION- Hannah Allen, a 2010 graduate of Coppell High School and recent graduate of Texas A&M University with double majors in English literature and Spanish, recently began a spring 2014 internship in Washington, D.C. Hannah will spend the spring as an integral part of Washington Partners LLC.
Hannah is one of sixteen students selected for a policy internship through the Public Policy Internship Program (PPIP) at Texas A&M University. Hannah’s duties include monitoring legislation, attending committee hearings and briefings, and preparing reports. Hannah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Tim and Becky Allen of Coppell, TX and the granddaughter of Hayes and Louise Allen of Louisville, MS.
“This internship program plays an integral role in supporting Texas A&M University’s core value of developing leaders,” said Stephanie McMillen, director of PPIP. “Through this opportunity, students use what they have learned in the classroom in a professional work setting. Not only will this D.C. experience be attractive to future employers, but our students are also providing valuable assistance to the offices in which they intern.”
The program is in its 13th year of sending students to Washington, D.C. to work in congressional offices and other agricultural organizations. Since its inception, more than 500 Aggies have worked in Washington, D.C. through the program. Each student receives course credit for their internship as well as a scholarship.
