Correction: Stewart sisters hold gathering

Submitted by Frances Ball

It has become the custom for the Stewart Sisters to meet each year. This year they met in October at the home of Delaine Woodruff.

Beginning on Friday evening, a delightful dinner was enjoyed. Joining the girls were three sisters-in-law. They were Earline Stewart (Frank), Louise Stewart (Junior), and Charlene (Bill). After the meal there was a time of fun and games, then a long spell of tale telling and laughter.

Saturday morning the girls enjoyed a delicious brunch. The afternoon was filled with downtown shopping, and a memorable trip to the Nanih Waiya area. Sisters Brenda and Dixie attended school there during their high school years after the school’s consolidation.

Afterwards, we traveled over to the new Nanih Waiya Park; it is such a wonderful place. The girls were stunned. The park is a tribute to the wonderful people of Nanih Waiya. It has a beautiful clubhouse, paved walking tracks, a great playground, a small lake and a future ball field. The beautiful wrought iron gate at the entrance is a welcoming site.

By now, it was time to head back and get dressed for an outing of dinner at Market Café. There we enjoyed a fine meal as well as visiting with several locals.

After another night of plain fun and laughter, it finally was bedtime (12 p.m.).

Sunday morning everyone attended worship services at First Baptist Church. Lunch was soup and cornbread at Delaine’s. Some of the husbands joined us. As is always, it was departure time. Everyone returned to their respective homes with anticipation of next year’s event. A location will be determined.

The family is one of God’s greatest creations and everyone should make the best of it. We sure do.
