The Nanih Waiya baseball team are still receiving accolades after winning their second Class 1A State Championship this past season. The team was honored with two of their players being selected to compete in the 21st State Games of Mississippi in 2012.
Being chosen to the Baseball All-Star Team of the State Games were Class 1A Player of the Year Colby Eaves and Luke Rosamond. Both pitchers were critical in the team’s success this past season, and were worthy selections to compete in such a prestigious event.
The State Games of Mississippi began in 1992 with 1200 athletes competing in 12 sports. The event is a privately sponsored, non- profit organization that promotes amateur athletics and healthy lifestyles for Mississippians of all ages and abilities. The event this year will feature over 5,000 athletes from around the state competing in 34 great events including individual and team sports.
The event takes place at Meridian Community College in Meridian from June 21-24. The opening ceremony will take place on June 15 in front of Meridian’s newly renovated City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
