East Central Community College’s golf team placed eighth in MACJC- sponsored competition held March 25-26 on the Mississippi State University golf course. East Mississippi Community College in Scooba served as tournament host. Golfers representing Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College took top honors in the 36-hole event by posting a score of 589 (300-289), 21 over par. East Mississippi finished second at 596 (299-297), followed by Northwest, 603 (308-295); Copiah-Lincoln, 605 (307-298); Jones County, 625 (320-305); Itawamba, 653 (335-318); Northeast, 659 (329-330); East Central, 671 (332-339); Hinds, 697 (344-353); and Holmes, 709 (363-346). Lee McDill led EC with rounds of 77 and 79 for a 156 total. McDill is a product of Newton County High School. Shelby Patterson of Forest carded a 158 (80-78), followed by Colby McClain of Neshoba Central, 172 (85-87) and Evan Dowell of Carthage, 185 (90-95). Chris Clark serves as Warrior golf coach. Next up for the ECCC linksters is the fifth MACJC event of 2012, which is scheduled April 2-3 at Horn Lake and the Wedgewood course in Olive Branch.
