ECCC Men’s Basketball Program Offers Numerous Camps

Several instructional and team camps are being offered this summer by the East Central Community College men’s basketball program, announced ECCC head basketball coach Robert Thompson who serves as camp director.

“Our camps are designed to provide a positive experience for each participant by teaching them the fundamentals required to be a success in the great game of basketball and more importantly ‘LIFE…’ regardless of level,” said Thompson, who completed his first season as Warrior head coach.

In addition to learning the game of basketball and improving skills, Coach Thompson said each participant “will enjoy days of individual fundamental instruction, competitive games and various tournaments filled with fun and excitement.”

An autograph session is scheduled on each final day of camp.

Team camps are scheduled May 30-31 (Friday-Saturday) for middle school students and June 13-15 (Friday-Sunday) for high school and junior varsity students in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building on the Decatur campus.

Participation is open to middle school, high school varsity and junior varsity squads.

“Our team camps offer a great opportunity for team members to improve their sportsmanship, teamwork and execution, as well as many others areas of the game,” said Coach Thompson. “We will provide a competitive atmosphere as each team will play a series of games against other high school competition. These camps will not only allow teams to grow as individuals as a unit, but will allow players to gain an edge on the competition for this upcoming season.”

Cost to attend the high school camp is $100 per team plus $150 per player. The $150 per player fee covers five meals, lodging, camp T-shirt and participation in six games.

The fee is $485 for teams that prefer to commute and not stay overnight on campus. (There is no limit to the number of players who can participate on commuter teams.)

The one-day option includes a $50 team deposit. Cost is $250 per team for three games. Meals are not included.

Six games are provided for each overnight team. Camp T-shirts are also included in the fee.
