Interested in a career in the healthcare field?
If so, attend Healthfest 2013, scheduled Friday, November 8, at East Central Community College in Decatur. Activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sutphin Associate Degree Nursing/Child Care Technology Building.
Sponsored by ECCC’s Division of Healthcare Education, participants can arrive any time throughout the day and talk with current students, faculty and administration about programs offered by the College. Campus tours will also be provided.
Associate Degree Nursing instructor Alicia Lundstrom who is helping to coordinate the event said, “We feel this is a great way to reach out to students interested in these fields, as well as to demonstrate the vast opportunities and teaching instruction we provide to our current students. Also, all healthcare involves inter-professional collaboration so this is a way to not only recruit potential students but provide relevant learning activities for our current students.”
ECCC offers degrees in associate degree nursing, practical nursing, surgical technology and emergency medical technology-paramedic. Eac program will have displays and demonstrations to inform prospective students about the roles of various healthcare professions.
In addition, current students will be available to talk about their
real-life experience in a healthcare education program and, along with
faculty members, will participate in simulation exercises
demonstrating the roles and responsibilities of each profession.
