The Fortnightly Club held their monthly meeting on March 13 at the home of Mrs. Lex Taylor. Hostesses were Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Stanley Hathorn. Beautiful spring flowers were a welcoming pleasure on the outside as well as inside and both highlighted by abundant sunshine. The devotional given by Mrs. Stanley Hathorn reminded us of precious treasures we may be overlooking such as frustrating but also funny family- history “tails” and momentous occasions such as school graduation and marriages. These remembrances can be valuable “antiques” offered to us as well as tables and chairs. Refreshments in the form of yummy sandwiches and strawberry cake were served.
Bailey Taylor daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lex Taylor gave a very interesting talk with video pictures of her trip with her family to Ireland. The history and literary heritage we share with that green land made this comprehensive talk very meaningful.
President, Mrs. Andrew Eaves led the group in the pledge to the American flag and the club pledge. She conducted the business meeting and Secretary Lynne Cunnigham called the roll and read the minutes. Mrs. Stanley Hathorn, Treasurer, gave the treasury report.
Newly elected officers are the following: President Mrs. Michael, Vice President Mrs. T.L. Kirkpatrick; Recording Secretary Mrs. Robert E. Cark, Jr., Corresponding Secretary Lynne Cunningham, Treasurer Mrs. Stanley Hathorn, and Parliamentarian Mrs. Robert Allen.
The April meeting will be Dutch Treat at Lake Tiak O’kata.
