On June 14, the Friends of Legion State Park will sponsor a membership drive and a picnic.
It will start at 5 p.m. beginning with a commemoration of the 75th year for Legion Lodge. This building has stood the test of time and it holds many memories of dances, reunions, parties, weddings, and activities still occur there.
There will be a Historic Reading of the Lodge history and afterwards the new flag will be raised. “We have placed a flag pole and flag right in front of the Lodge,” stated organizers.
June 14 is “Flag Day” so they will do this to honor and remember all veterans. They are inviting those who are interested in becoming members to attend.
“We need more members. We are doing some very worthwhile projects this year. We want to continue to upgrade the park,”stated organizers. They will move to the Pavillion area for the picnic. They also hope to have some entertainment.
“Bring your lawn chair and come on out and join us,”stated organizers.
