Group donates to continuing recovery efforts

Even after a year and a half after an EF-4 tornado did major damage to Winston County, people from all over the state and country are still lending a helping hand.

The WinstonStrong organization was proud to receive a monetary donation from the Embrace Relief organization during the Winston Medical Center’s Health Fair held on October 6.

Fatih Ozcan, Mississippi representative for Embrace Relief, traveled all the way from Jackson to deliver a check from the organization to WinstonStrong in the amount of $3,883. Ozcan presented the check to State Senator Giles Ward. Ozcan also donated 400 pounds of various meats for victims of the storms. Ozcan also stated that Embrace Relief would be working throughout the year to raise money to donate to the Winston County.

Embrace Relief is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that brings together teams of volunteers to collaborate on humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts. These teams provide an array of support, offering to assist financially, emotionally, and physically with the needs of families and communities ravaged by disaster.

The foundation collects, delivers and distributes supplies and resources to families, individuals and institutions.
