One Winston County Church sent out special holiday cheer to the area’s everyday heroes.
The Whitehall United Methodist Church members baked dozens of cookies to deliver to first responders who had to work during the holiday, including Louisville 911, Louisville Fire Department, Louisville Police Department, the Sheriff’s Department, the Winston County Correctional Facility and others serving the citizens during the Christmas holidays.
“Our deepest hope is that people feel our gratitude,” said Bobby Yarbrough who headed up the cookie delivery effort. “It feels so great to surprise them and just say thanks for being on call to keep our community safe.”
Yarbrough noted the idea for the cookie delivery came from his son’s church in Tennessee where they have 500 volunteers deliver cookies to over 5 counties. He noted the Whitehall members embraced the idea and hope to do it each year.
