Lady Warriors set to host Noxapater Monday

Nanih Waiya banged out 11 hits to post a 9-3 win over visiting Union High School on Saturday to bounce back from a loss to West Lauderdale earlier in the week and move to 8-4 on the season

The Lady Warriors are set to visit Philadelphia High School on Friday before playing host to rival Noxapater on Monday for a region match-up.

Ryan Holdiness cracked a triple and a single and drove in three runs to lead Nanih Waiya in the win over Union, while Mackenzie Johnson and Livia Bush had two singles each and Reagan Holdiness added a three-bagger.

Marlee Parkes, Hope Thames, Brantlie Sheets and Allayna Lovorn all had hits for the winners, while Sheets drove in three runs and Thames a pair. Sheets was the winning pitcher, striking out six without a walk and allowing just three hits and one earned run in seven innings of work in the circle.

Nanih Waiya held a 3-2 lead over West Lauderdale after four innings of play before the Lady Knights scored one in the top of the fifth and two in the top of the sixth to take a 5-3 win.

Sheets cracked a pair of hits for NW, while Johnson had a triple and Thames, Krysten Eaves, and Ryan Holdiness had a single each. Holdiness struck out 14 batters, but was credited with the loss despite giving up just two earned runs.
