What is the cost of such a gesture?

In his State of the State address last week, one proposal by Gov. Phil Bryant got a standing ovation from many Mississippi lawmakers and other state officials in the audience.

That was to add the nation’s official motto, “In God We Trust,” to the state seal.

We don’t object to the change. The slogan has been on U.S. coins since 1864 and paper currency since 1957. The U.S. Supreme Court has said the motto does not establish a state religion and is therefore constitutional.

Still, we’d like Bryant to spell out what the change will cost. There are a lot of engravings, floor tiles and other permanent markers on state buildings that would have to be replaced, not to mention printed material.

At a time when the governor is saying the state can’t afford a lot of the things it should do, such as extending Medicaid to the working poor, we’d like to know how much he wants to spend on a symbolic gesture designed only to get votes.

Buggy to heavy to pull

Sometimes life is hard to pull. Fears of many sorts, misunderstandings, hurts and the list can go on. Did God leave us a situation?

I’m so glad there is help!

Mt. 11:29

Jeremiah 6:16

Isaiah 8:20

I’d like to share an experience that happened over 46 years ago. I awake around 2 o’clock a.m. October 8, 1967. Had went to bed after cleaning house, with apparently lots of energy the best I can remember.

]It was time for me to awake my husband and take a journey. A journey to the hospital. Mt twin sons were on the way.

Now in the car and on the way, my husband was having problems finding the hospital. Someone just recently had informed him a quicker different road to take . We had gotten on the wrong road that lead to another wrong road. We were apparently lost.

Lots of things can happen when a new arrival is on the way. We needed to find or way. On a back road, around 2 a,m, – 3 a.m., No cell phones then and we were lost. Who can help us and help quick? I thought.

I read the following scriptures today and I thought of that morning; Mt. 11: 28, 29, 30, Jeremiah 6:16, Isaiah 8:20

Mt. 11: 28, Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Jeremiah 6:16; Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways and see ask for the old paths which is the good way and walk therein and you shall find rest for your souls.

Isaiah 8:20, To the law and to the testimony if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

We are on the journey of life starting at the hospital, and ending this life’s journey at the Funeral Home. Some journeys are less than a day. My Dad ended his at around 95 years, some longer. Matthew 24:37; But as the days of Noah were also shall the coming of the son of man be. Yet we can tell when Winter, Summer etc is approaching by the signs. Jesus allowed us to ne wise by reading his word. Certain signs would be before his coming. Be sure you are on the right road, the time according to signs, we have a short time. The journey to Heaven starts with a simple prayer; Lord Jesus I need help. I do not want to be on the wrong road.

Just read Matthew 11:28. Jesus is saying Come to me. I will help you.

I’d like to give the conclusion of our early morning journey. My husband has always been a very good driver. He use to travel a lot, and could find his way through large metropolis areas. We did arrive in more than enough time. He did a very good job after all. Around 3:00 p.m. that day a very kind doctor delivered our 2 sons; Charles Mark and Curtis Luke. He encouraged me not to go ahead with natural childbirth, a I had planned. I was happy to change my thought on that deal.

Maybe someone was praying for us, but I no my Lord has angels to help us when we ask. Hope you, the readers are blessed by this article, and as Jesus says, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. My God desires us to stay o the old paths, God’s way.
