From press reports

On Saturday, November 2, the Louisville High School Marching Band competed in the 2013 Mississippi Marching Band Championships in Clinton, MS.

The band received the Bronze Medal for 3rd place in Class 3A in the state of Mississippi.

The band performed in the morning preliminary round with then other qualifying bands from throughout the state.  Other bands in class 3A competing were Booneville, South Pontotoc, Sumrall, Mooreville, Winona, Morton, Nettleton, North Pontotoc, and Wesson.

The band’s superior performance qualified them for them for the finals competition round that night along with four other bands.

The band qualified and declared for the marching championships by receiving all superior rating at the MHSAA State Marching Festival held in early October at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, MS.

In the championship finals, the LHS Band received special caption awards.

The band placed in Color Guard, Music Performance, Marching Execution, and General Effect.

The band competed throughout the month of October at four contest and festivals in Mississippi and Alabama.  The band received “All Superior” ratings at every contest and festival they have entered, also wining the Grand Champion Trophy at the West Lauderdale Marching Contest.  The band has received a total of 32 trophies during this year’s competitive season.

The band is under the direction of Tim Avant, assisted by Brian D. Malone and Brian Lindsay.
