The defending MHSAA Class 3A State Champion Louisville High School football team will be tested in a hurry this season when the Wildcats take part in the 2014 New Hope Fall Jamboree on Saturday, Aug. 16.
LHS, which finished last season at 16-0 and claimed the school’s eighth MHSAA football championship in the process, will take on West Point at 3 p.m. The 12-team event will be played at Scott Field on the campus of Mississippi State University. There are six games in all, with each contest consisting of one half of football.
The day’s action is set to begin at 9 a.m. when Philadelphia takes on Aberdeen. Noxubee County and Forest tangle at 11 a.m., followed by Columbus and Kosciusko at 1 p.m. Following the LHS-West Point match-up at 3 p.m., will be Starkville and Terry at 5 p.m., followed by the finale at 7 p.m. between Greenville West and New Hope.
Louisville High School will open regular season play six days after the jamboree by hosting Jim Hill High School of Jackson at R.E. Hinze Stadium for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
Other home games for the Wildcats this season have them hosting Noxubee County on Sept. 5, Kosciusko on Sept. 26, South Pontotoc on Oct. 10 and Kemper County on Oct. 24.
