The LMSD is excited about the opportunity to add three instructional coaches in the district for the next school year.
“We were fortunate to have many teachers apply for these positions. We wanted our instructional coaches to have a successful track record in the LMSD and be well respected by their peers,” said Penny Hill.
Two literacy coaches and one math coach were chosen.
The literacy coaches are Jan Collier who will serve teachers in grades K-5 and Leann Boswell who will serve teachers in grades 6-10.
The math coach is Lisa Horne who will serve teachers in grades 3-8.
“We’re excited that they will be able to help so many of our entry level teachers as well as veteran teachers to fully integrate Common Core in all of our classrooms. They will be able to model lessons and be a support system for our teachers,” said Hill.
As part of the position, the coaches will also work as a mentor to teachers and as a data coaches to assist schools with disaggregation of student achievement data from assessments to impact instruction.
