Looking a lot like Christmas: Parades on tap

From staff and press reports

While a fresh batch of cold temperatures and placing of Christmas lights around Louisville are starting to look a lot like Christmas, the Christmas season will kickoff in a major way in December with the annual parades.

Noxapater Dec. 3

Noxapater will host their 2013 Christmas parade on Tuesday, Dec. 3 and will begin at 6 p.m. There is no entry fee for the Noxapater Parade but each entrant must fill out the entry form 48 hours in advance of the parade.

“We encourage everyone interested to sign up and create a float. This event is for the children and in celebration of Christmas,” said Wiley Collins, assistant parade coordinator.

Entrants are encouraged to play only Christmas music. Winners of the float categories will be announced at the end of the parade.

More information may be found at the Noxapater Community Alliance website (www.noxapateralliance.org) along with an entry form. Persons may also contact Wiley Collins or Mark Robinson for more information at 724-2907 or 724-4133.

Louisville Dec. 9

The Louisville Christmas parade is set for December 9 at 5:30 p.m. The theme for the parade is “An All American Christmas”.

The Winston County Chamber of Commerce staff encourages all businesses and groups to enter the parade and develop a float around the theme. Awards will be given in several categories. Businesses are also encouraged to decorate their windows for a window decoration award. Three out of town judges will be on hand for the parade and window review.

The parade will leave coliseum and go to Church Avenue to Main Street back to Columbus Avenue.

“This is a great event to help the community get into the Christmas spirit,” said Linda Skelton, Winston County Chamber director.
