LOUISVILLE, Miss. — Thanksgiving, a day Americans set aside to give thanks: thanks for family, thanks for friends, thanks for making it another year. Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) would like to thank all of our donors who have come in this year and donated blood. MBS knows that blood donors have helped countless hospital patients to make it through this year by giving of themselves. But the challenge to meet the needs of hospital patients never ends, so we want to thank you also, for continuing to give the gift of life.
There will be a community blood drive at the Louisville Walmart on Tuesday, November 26, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The MBS Donor Coach will be on site. All donors will receive a T-shirt. Donors can now check their cholesterol levels on their MBSConnect account.
“A unit of blood may not seem like much to a healthy person,” Susan Ates, MBS public relations specialist, said. “But the effects of saving a life are far reaching. It’s not just the patient, but his or her family, friends and community that are impacted.”
Donating blood is safe, simple and it saves lives. Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with signed parental consent, visit our Web site for a copy of the form), weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid ID.
