Louisville looking to close out district hoops action

The Louisville High School Wildcats and Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play their last district game of the season on Thursday when Aberdeen pays a visit. The region tournament is set to begin on Monday in Columbus on the campus of Mississippi University for Women.

Last week the LHS boys and girls each won one of three games they played, including dropping region contests to Nettleton.

The Louisville boys were outscored 24-11 in the fourth quarter against Nettleton on Friday to drop a heartbreaking 53-50 decision.

The Wildcats lost to Class 6A power Meridian 82-28 on Tuesday, but took a 66-34 win over Noxapater on Monday. Dontae Jones scored 13 points to lead LHS against Noxapater, while Demero Miller hit for 11 and Roderick Jackson tossed in 10.

The Louisville girls opened the week with a 57-27 win over Noxapater before losing to Meridian 57-24 and Nettleton 59-40. The Lady Wildcats actually held a 26-24 lead at the half in the region game against Nettleton, before being outscored 35-14 over the last 16 minutes of the game.

Tyesha Davis scored 22 points and had eight rebounds and five steals in the win over Noxapater, while Diamond Wraggs scored 10 points and had 12 rebounds and Diamond Love had nine points, seven assists, and five steals. Miriah Ford also scored eight points for the winners.
